Badger State December 7th Training SeminarThe SCTE Badger State Chapter will be presenting our "CCAP Road Map" Common Cable Application Protocol) training seminar on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 in Fond du Lac, WI.CCAP is rapidly gaining usage within the Cable MSO community. This technology allows a coaxial network to obtain the operational aspects of an IP plant. Video services, data, telephony, and OTT services are all supported within a common transmission method while system bandwidth and capacity become dynamically changeable. This allows HFC plants to compete on an equal footing with FTTH networks. Speakers:Alex Wong from Harmonic: This presentation will provide a base level of understand about the CCAP architecture. Alex will discuss remote access architectures, remote physical layer hardware, the pros and cons of migrating to IP video on CCAP. Jeff DeMent from ARRIS: A functional overview of DOCSIS 3.1 will be presented. DOCSIS provides the base layer of the CCAP communication. A deeper look into remote PHY, remote CCAP, and the pros and cons of CCAP. Jeff will discuss extending the capacity of HFC plants including a migration toward full duplex DOCSIS and the concept of extended spectrum DOCSIS, FTTx architecture variations, and integrating video services into CCAP. Impact to set-top types and in-home wiring will be covered.Mark Ortel with Viavi: This presentation will address how CCAP will impact testing and troubleshooting.
