SCTE is a professional association for the advancement of technology, standards and workforce education related to cable telecommunications engineering. Founded in 1969 as The Society of Cable Television Engineers, SCTE has a current membership of more than 19,000 individuals.
Preparing them for what’s next in technology, SCTE can benefit all professionals in the industry, helping them to create an exceptional customer experience. Cultivating unmatched technical innovation, training, certification, and standards, SCTE creates value for corporate and individual members.
SCTE’s long-term goal is to ensure that our membership, volunteer membership, and staff represent a strong and evolving model of diversity and inclusion for the technical operations and engineering workforce of the Broadband Industry, and those that support them.
In early 2012 SCTE began its launch of the SCTE Diversity & Inclusion Initiative through the creation of several programs supporting its Inclusion Philosophy. Multichannel News worked with SCTE Senior Vice President of Operations, Cathy Oakes, in posting an article that highlights key areas of focus for SCTE Diversity & Inclusion in the year ahead.
SCTE was built upon member involvement, and today, SCTE still relies on members to provide the direction and leadership necessary to keep its programs and services relevant to the industry.
