We’re excited to announce that as of July 15, 2025, SCTE has fully transitioned to an automated remote proctoring model for all SCTE certification exams. This strategic shift is designed to streamline the certification process, reduce the burden on SCTE volunteers, and make certification more accessible and flexible for all exam candidates. All SCTE certification exams are now delivered exclusively through automated remote proctoring.

Why We’ve Made This Change

This transition is driven by certification exam participant feedback. SCTE’s goals are to:

  • Offer flexible scheduling: Candidates can now take their certification exams anytime, from anywhere.
  • Simplify operations: Automated remote proctoring eliminates proctor availability barriers and complex scheduling.
  • Improve accessibility & consistency: A unified process ensures the same experience for all certification candidates.

Reminder: Automated remote proctoring was previously available as a $45 add-on for SCTE certifications. This update makes it standard—at no additional cost to the learner.

How Does Automated Remote Proctoring Work?

Exam participants download a browser extension that acts as an online proctoring tool designed to collect data during exam participation only. The data (camera feed, audio, computer screen, and websites visited during the exam) is reviewed by the SCTE Certifications Team to determine if any concerns require further attention.

Technical Requirements

Before taking your exam, ensure your system meets the minimum technical specifications defined by Proctorio. Note that mobile phones are not supported.
