SCTE Certification Exam Integrity Policy
Please review this policy carefully. If you break the rules disciplinary action may be taken.
To keep SCTE certifications credible and trusted, exams must follow the SCTE Certification Exam Integrity Policy described below. By taking an exam, you confirm that you have read and agree to follow all SCTE certification exam policies.
Exam Overview and Requirements
Prohibited and Allowed Materials
Exams are open-book, meaning you can use SCTE online training materials as a reference. You can also use other permitted reference materials, including:
- Books
- Printed documents
- Personal notes
- Tables
- Calculators
- Internet resources
Note: All digital content must be accessed from the same device used to take the exam, in a separate tab of the same browser.
You may not use artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar systems, including AI-enabled search engines.
Personal Items
- Electronic devices or cameras (other than the exam device)
- Additional monitors
- Phones
- Communication or recording devices
- Smart watches
Note: All personal items must be stored outside the testing room before the exam begins.
Behavior and Conduct
Please follow the below rules for behavior and conduct:
- You must not engage in any conduct that is dishonest, unfair, or unethical, including actions intended to deceive or misrepresent your knowledge, skills, or qualifications as an examinee.
- You may not give or receive unauthorized assistance on an SCTE exam.
Once the exam begins, you must remain in front of your device for the whole session. - Exams cannot be paused, and breaks are not permitted.
- No other persons are allowed in the test room, unless required by your employer and pre-approved by SCTE.
- You must abide by the SCTE Certification Code of Ethics
Confidentiality
- Examination content is the property of SCTE, including any trade secret and copyright protection available by law.
- You agree to maintain the confidentiality of this content, including the questions and answers.
- You may not capture, reproduce, or disclose exam content by any means, including discussion, memorization, posting, or disclosure via email, social media, or other platforms, before, during, or after your session.
- You may not disclose or discuss exam content with anyone, including training instructors.
SCTE Certification Code of Ethics
I agree to uphold and advance the honor and dignity of the profession, and in keeping with high standards of ethical conduct, I acknowledge that:
- I will be honest and impartial and will serve with devotion and integrity my employer, clients, and the public.
- I will strive to increase the competence and prestige of the profession.
- I will endeavor to support the professional development of those under my supervision.
- I will present my work truthfully and give credit where due.
- I will act as a faithful agent for my employer or client and will disclose any affiliations that may influence my judgment.
- I will support the mission and efforts of the Society.
- I will uphold and abide by the rules of the SCTE certification program.
Disciplinary Procedures
To protect its integrity, SCTE has adopted procedures for handling complaints involving:
- Misconduct during certification exams;
- Violation of the SCTE Certification Exam Integrity Policy;
- Violation of the SCTE Certification Code of Ethics.
If you violate this policy or the broader SCTE Certification Code of Ethics:
- Your score may be canceled
- Your certification may be revoked
- You may be banned from retesting
- SCTE may notify your employer about the violation
