SCTE STEM Education and Career Initiatives

As the global leader for telecommunication education and training for technical professionals in the cable industry, SCTE understands the importance of innovation and critical thinking. The Society also realizes that to maintain the same level of professionalism and technical expertise our members represent today, we have to focus on the workforce of tomorrow.

Currently, too few universities and technical schools are graduating students in STEM fields. High school students don’t have proficiency or interest in STEM programs, and the demand for STEM professionals in the U.S. is increasing faster than the supply.

SCTE is a proud supporter of numerous STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and career initiatives.

STEM education will be vital to the future of our industry as we work to drive increased engineering literacy and up-and-coming innovators to create the cable networks and technologies of tomorrow.

SCTE and US First Program Partnership

SCTE joined in its alliance with First to support their mission to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills that inspire innovation.

First’s annual programs culminate in an international robotics competition and celebration where teams win recognition, gain self-confidence, develop people and life skills, make new friends, and discover a potential career path such as cable telecommunications.

The cable industry can benefit greatly from being involved with FIRST to support future leaders and inform them of the viable career opportunities within the telecommunications field.
