Louisiana Chapter Grounding and Bonding Seminars This timely training session will be presented by:Chuck Blume with Megger Learn what to do when a "greenfield" needs a ground or an existing ground has been tested and fails to meet the required resistance specification.Determine the resistivity of the soil. (This is defined and briefly discussed to understand what affects resistivity. Knowing the resistivity of the soil answers the question "If a lower resistance is needed, can it be obtained by using longer rods or should more rods of the same length be used?") Decide what kind of ground "electrodes" (mainly rods) should be used. (This discusses and illustrates how to augment the effectiveness of electrodes as well as the conditions that dictates the use of a particular kind of electrode.) Install the electrode. (This discusses and illustrates the proper methods of doing so as well as common errors made when installing grounds.) Test the ground to see if the required resistance was achieved. (The differences and similarities of stake and clamp-on methods are covered. Attendees will understand when and how to use one method and when and how to use the other.)
