International Engineering Professional Award

This award honors outstanding technical achievements and contributions made to the advancement of the global cable telecommunications industry by an engineering professional living outside of the United States.

Rolando Barja
2017 International Engineering Professional Award Recipient

Rolando Barja, of COTAS RL, is a passionate advocate for SCTE•ISBE and a leader in the telecommunications industry in South and Central America. He is an accomplished presenter and has written many articles for telecommunications magazines in his country and authored a book.

Within SCTE•ISBE, Rolando recently resumed his role as president of the South and Central Americas Chapter, having been its first president. On behalf of the chapter he organizes Spanish-language training webinars for all members. In addition, he is he a member of the Spanish Translation Working Group and a contractor for the SCTE•ISBE learning and development team. Rolando earned an MBA with a specialty in International Administration and holds the first CWTS certification in Bolivia.
