Subcommittees


The SCTE standards program is conducted by technical subcommittees. These are the consensus bodies for standards development. The overall program is supervised by the Engineering Committee of the SCTE Board of Directors.
 

 


Data Standards Subcommittee (DSS)

Charter:
DSS develops standards for the delivery of digital services for high speed data, Voice over Internet Protocol, and television using Internet Protocol over cable networks.

Digital Video Subcommittee (DVS)

Charter:
DVS identifies requirements and develops standards for the design and operation of systems for delivery of video, audio, and associated data for the Cable Industry, coordinating as necessary with organizations such as ATSC, CEA, SMPTE, NCTA, and CableLabs.

Emergency Alert Systems (EAS) Subcommittee

Charter:
To Provide technical expertise and liaison to the Cable Industry and other interested parties regarding Emergency Alert Systems.

HFC Management Subcommittee (HMS)

Charter:
The HFC Management Subcommittee (HMS) develops monitoring standards and recommended practices used in Hybrid Fiber/Coax networks including end-to-end multimedia quality of service and MIB attributes for headend and outside plant equipment.

Interface Practices Subcommittee (IPS)

Charter:
IPS develops standards for cables, connectors, active and passive equipment used in broadband communications systems and equipment and system standards for RFoG applications.

Sustainability Management Subcommittee (SMS)

Charter:
SMS is responsible for identifying standards and best practices for reducing power consumption and costs, increasing operating efficiency and minimizing disposal effects of outdated equipment.

Network Operations Subcommittee (NOS)

Charter:
NOS is responsible for standards and recommended practices that provide support for the implementation and operation of cable networks. The NOS will focus on the area of network testing, measurements and other topics relevant to the performance and operational management of cable networks.
