SCTE SEEKS PROPOSALS FOR ITS NEXT ENERGY FORUM
MAY 25, 2010 (Exton, PA)—The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) today has sounded a Call for Papers for its next Smart Energy Management Initiative (SEMI) forum.
The deadline for proposals for technical presentations is Friday, Aug. 6, 2010. The forum is set for Wednesday, Nov. 17 in Herndon, Va.
Officially launched in February, SEMI is focused on meaningful and substantive applications of technology that lead to improved energy management and the reduction of energy consumption and expense. The unprecedented new initiative is designed to help cable system operators to leverage the financial and environmental advantages of implementing “green” strategies.
Technical presentations to be conducted at the November forum will center upon issues such as efficiency improvements in plant powering, workforce communications tools that reduce energy usage, and viability of alternative-fuel vehicles.
“The November meeting in Virginia will further build the momentum SEMI has generated for concrete solutions to our industry’s energy management challenges,” said SCTE President/CEO Mark Dzuban. “I look forward to seeing what kinds of innovative thinking that this call for technical proposals is sure to stimulate and capture.”
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is a non-profit professional association that provides technical leadership for the telecommunications industry and serves its members through professional development, standards, certification and information.
