Awards & Recognition

SCTE recognizes and honors excellence in the industry through annual awards programs that showcase the accomplishments and contributions of SCTE members.

Awards

Chairman’s Award–presented to an individual or organization that has demonstrated significant support of the Society.

Chapter Awards–acknowledge and honor chapter leaders who contribute substantially to the industry by promoting the mission of SCTE locally.

Excellence in Standards Award–honors an SCTE Standards Program participant who has significantly contributed to the technical standards program and the spirit of cooperation necessary for the success of voluntary standards.

International Cable-Tec Games–feature the year’s local Cable Games winners competing at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo for medals in events such as cable splicing, meter reading, cable jeopardy, MTDR and drop splicing. Sponsored by CommScope

SCTE Excellence in Cable Telecommunications Learning and Development Award–recognizes the achievements of learning and development professionals within the cable telecommunications community who have demonstrated significant success toward progressing the careers of others through the innovative use of cable telecommunications technology-centric curricula and learning programs

SCTE Member of the Year Award–recognizes the member who significantly contributed to the Society over the past year. 

Safety Awards–recognizes outstanding workforce safety as measured by OSHA recordable incident rates.

System of the Year Award–recognizes the operator whose achievements in broadband deployment and delivery serves as the industry benchmark for technical capability. Presented by Communications Technology.

Women in Technology Award–identifies and acknowledges the achievements of one woman who has made significant contributions to the world of broadband. Sponsored by Bright House Networks. Made possible through a joint effort of SCTE, WICT and Communications Technology.

Young Canadian Engineering Professional of the Year Award - Recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions made to the advancement of the cable telecommunications industry by a young Canadian engineering professional, as an SCTE member. Sponsored by Aurora Networks. Made possible through the efforts of Cartt.ca and SCTE.

Young Engineer of the Year Award–Honors an engineering professional who is under the age of 35 as of December 31, and who has demonstrated outstanding achievement within the cable telecommunications industry.Sponsored by Multichannel News, SCTE and Scientific Atlanta, A Cisco Company.

Recognition

Charter Member –Members who initiated the Society in 1969.

Circle Of Eagles–Valuable leaders of the Society, including Hall of Fame members, Charter Members, Fellow Members, Past Presidents and Chairmen of the Board.

Emeritus Member - Members who have reached 40 years of continuous membership.

Fellow Members–Esteemed members of the Society who have sustained a remarkable level of contribution to the Society and industry for more than 12 years.

SCTE Hall Of Fame – SCTE members who, over the course of time, have made extraordinary contributions to the professional development, ideals and goals of the Society and the cable telecommunications industry.

Past Presidents–Those who've served at the highest level as chairs and presidents of the SCTE Board of Directors and left an indelible mark in the legacy of the Society with their own unique styles and leadership.

Senior Members–Professionals who have exhibited a high level of competence and professionalism in their career while actively participating in the Society.


Scholarships

SCTE provides scholarships to assist our members and their children in their continued pursuit of knowledge.

Broadband Engineering and Technology Awareness Month

Broadband Engineering and Technology Awareness (BETA) Month-An SCTE national campaign aimed to increase the recognition of the engineering and technology profession across the cable telecommunications industry and elevate the recognition of our industry’s hard-working technical workforce.
