To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on the SCTE website, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information such as name, member number, address, organization name, business phone, and e-mail. Similar information may be submitted to SCTE through membership applications, conference or seminar registration, publication orders and contest registrations. All data collected is submitted voluntarily.
Generally, SCTE and its direct Chapters and Meeting Groups use data collected to improve website content, to respond to interests, needs and preferences, and to develop new products and services. SCTE also makes member information available to other SCTE members through its online Membership Directory. Occasionally, SCTE makes personal information available for special offers from qualified, relevant businesses and organizations, but SCTE does not share e-mail addresses with any outside parties. SCTE may also disclose personal information when required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with the law or legal process served on SCTE.
Individuals may request SCTE to refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties. To do this, an opt-out box will appear on each form on which a user provides information, or users may contact SCTE at any time at email@example.com or (800) 542-5040.
